Built around the unique strengths of pre-teens and adolescents, the Middle School program at Gill is collaborative and hands-on with an emphasis on learning as a process. In addition to offering a comprehensive academic program, our Middle School teachers place special focus on decision-making, empathy and community. Students have room to grow, to explore a range of interests and to take on leadership roles through in-school clubs and afterschool activities. Middle School at Gill is a positive and productive place where children thrive academically, emotionally and socially.

In addition to our core academic program, signature Middle School offerings include

  • Teacher-supervised study hall and after-school activities until 5:30 each day (free of charge)
  • Incorporation of decision-making skills throughout the curriculum
  • A flexible math program tailored to individual readiness to best prepare students for success in Upper School math courses
  • A lab-based science program with an emphasis on exploration, discovery and experimentation.
  • Broad offerings in fine and performing arts, including ceramics, choral music, studio art, theater, sculpture and woodworking.
Consistent with the school's Mission, the Middle School at Gill St. Bernard’s is a balanced, nurturing environment where students are encouraged and supported in their quest for excellence.
