Advisory Program

The Advisory program at Gill provides each student with the opportunity to connect with a Gill St. Bernard’s faculty member or administrator who will monitor, guide, and support the student’s academic, social, and emotional progress. Every student in grades 9-12 has an advisor who oversees the student’s academic progress, maintains regular contact with the student’s teachers and coaches, and assists the student in all areas of school life. The advisor is a primary point of contact and keeps lines of communication open between students, families, faculty, and administration.

Ninth-grade students are grouped together in order to effectively address the needs and concerns that are unique to the first-year experience. Following the ninth-grade year, students will be placed in a new advisory with a mix of tenth- through twelfth-grade students and will remain in this group for the remainder of their time at Gill. Advisory meetings are built into the school day, with scheduled group advisories on Tuesday and Thursday mornings. Advisors will often also find time to meet individually with students throughout the school year.
Gill St. Bernard’s is a private, coeducational day school for students age three through grade 12, located in suburban New Jersey. Each of the three school divisions provides a vigorous, meaningful and age-appropriate curriculum, and all students benefit from the environmental learning opportunities that exist on our 208-acre campus.
